Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing. It’s hard to explain how people and places get sorted now. I also started sorting people, those who were just asking to seem “normal” and “informed”, some who really were concerned but only because they were concerned for me and whether I’d function sufficiently to keep doing my job, and lastly, the ones who actually did understand which were very very few: one friend at work and my husband. The only safe white people. Even places I’d once loved to roam, I couldn’t tolerate. When I think of London, I don’t see the majestic buildings and layout, I see skulls and bones and the stolen wealth of nations, all bloodied and tattered holding up a dying, dissolving empire of disgust.
Thank you so much. It's kind of breathtaking in the worst possible way, how few people actually have elementary human decency, no? These experiences are horrifying when you realize you live amongst totally soulless individuals. I hate that you had to see this too, but I think it's an indispensable lesson for our life.
Thanks for sharing this. You’re absolutely right that the westerners aren’t raged enough. If anything, their rage is misplaced, not at their own evil regimes, but at the leaders of the targeted nations.
What’s really sick about the “fetish” is that it isn’t just those who want to use it to justifying the bombing, but also those supposedly anti-imperialist “lefties” sitting safely in the imperial core who ask more actions from Iran, which won’t cost them a single blood.
It’s one thing to support Iranians on the ground, including their demands, quite another to flexing your “revolutionary” muscle online for a few more likes.
Oh yes, dear friend, you hit on something really important there. These useless "lefties" as you called them are basically watching a football game with human casualties. Just shows how little our lives mean to them, when you peel off the layer of flowery writing and posturing. ♥️
Although the “keyboard warriors” would never admit that. Still, the global majority gets it, even those of us moved to and reside in the imperial core. We never forget the history, much still ongoing, of the enormous atrocities inflicted on our people by the imperialists, and how much sacrifice and endurance it takes to fight back. Not by pointing fingers or making “hot takes”. The tide is turning though. And I look forward to a day to visit Iran in person. Please take care in the meantime.
I really enjoyed reading this,Khatoun. I do not know why but the first part of it felt somewhat relatable even though I am not from Iran, but due to my current position as an exile due to the British state's fascism against those of us who speak out for the oppressed. I wonder if you have a sense of that, living in an unrelatable western country. Otherwise, I am glad you have a bike. They are the best therapy. Despite the insanity in our current world, I have hope too. Iran has given that to me and many millions, I'm sure.
Thank you, Naila, I can't imagine what it's like, being exiled for political views. My own migration was purely economic, now I find myself stuck in a place I no longer want to be, but moving back home after a decade is no easy feat. You have stood up for justice and are unfairly paying the price for that. I live with the faith that within our lifetimes, we will be vindicated. Otherwise I'd go mad. Thank you so much for reading, what a privilege having you here ❤️
Thank you, Khatoun. I believe we will be vindicated too. I trust in the glorious Axis of Resistance to get the zemons out of the region, sooner or later, led by the most inspirational country that is Iran.
I've accepted my situation and as with others targeted, it has made us come out swinging because little more matters in life for me and others than to fight for what's right.
With regards to moving, perhaps returning might be a big leap but I would recommend considering moving to somewhere you like more, or closer to those you can relate with because I've always felt life is too short to live in a place (and around those) that make you unhappy.
I'm so glad I get to read your writing here and to have contact. I love your realness and look forward to reading more. Keep rocking soul-sister. ❤️
